You can never choose who you fall in love with. Just like you can’t force yourself to fall in love when the emotion isn’t there.

Love is a strange emotion. I think many of us here have gone through much of what you describe with Emerald. You meet her, she sweeps you off your feet, you worry others will notice and drive you apart, or that she’ll outgrow the relationship. And most of the time it happens.

But continue to treat her right. Love her and cherish the time you have with her. Don’t give her a reason to grow up and look back on the relationship with contempt. You’ll likely have a friend for life.
