On May 24, 2022, nineteen children, and two adults were brutally murdered by a heavily armed gunman at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas. Local law enforcement arrived within three minutes of the gunman entering the school. Hundreds of law enforcement officers responded to the shooting, yet they stood outside the classroom doing nothing for 77 minutes, as these children and their teachers were slaughtered.
Today, the United States Justice Department released its report, stating what we already know. The response of law enforcement that day was a complete and utter failure. After the report was released, several families of the children, and their attorney held a press conference, reacting to the report. The words of attorney Josh Koskoff were sobering, as he expressed outrage toward the gun policy of Texas and our nation. The words of the families who lost their children are haunting. My heart hurts for these families. I share their anger at our representatives who failed us over and over again, by refusing to pass sensible gun laws.
This video is hard to watch, and brought me to tears. I hope it softens the hearts of those who oppose sensible gun laws. Our children… the future of our country… should be our number one priority and deserve to be protected.
